Penetrative Damp

Penetrative damp is when moisture from the outside of the building penetrates through external walls above ground level and can also describe dampness below ground penetrating in to cellars/basements.

The Most common causes of penetrative damp in building are

Faulty or blocked rainwater goods (downpipes, gutters etc), waste plumbing goods.

Lack of adequate maintenance of the building.

Cracks in brickworks, around window/door frames.

Building material is damaged/eroded.

How does it affect the inside of the building

High levels of moisture content to wall surface.

Deterioration of wall plaster / wallpaper.
